Anonymous: Hello! Stunning work! Do you always use natural light? Or do you have some equipment? x
for some reason this published empty even though i typed out an answer…?
anyway, my answer was: i always shoot with natural light, i never use reflectors or extra lighting. you can see some behind the scenes pictures if you click the link ‘self’ on the left, and you can see that i’m not holding anything besides my camera. x
Gypsy is a racist slur to those who are of Romani (ethnicity). An example, to put this in perspective, would be like calling a black person the n-word. Just as a heads up.
thanks for letting me know, but i wasn’t using the word to refer to a community or ethnic group, rather referring to it as a lifestyle.
in my personal opinion, i think words are hurtful depending how they’re used. while ‘gypsy’ does have many negative connotations, i feel like it’s acceptable to use it depending HOW you’re using it. i’d be more than happy to use another word to describe being someone drawn to an unconventional way of life, traveling from place to place as required for jobs.
what would you like to do if you werent a photographer?
i’d play music or be a painter or a poor gypsy traveller busking in the streets.
Being you a wedding photographer (a VERY good one by the way) do you still see weddings as something beautiful or are they for you just another job/event. And would you like to get married one day? if so how do you imagine the photographs of that day?
aww thank you so much! while i know i’m there at the wedding to do my job, it doesn’t stop me from smiling and enjoying the day, i love talking to strangers and it makes me happy to see what a wonderful time the couple are having. so yes, i guess i do still see it as something beautiful.
as for me, i don’t personally feel i need to get married to show my love for someone. but who knows, maybe my mind will change later down the track ;) as for the photos, i have some awesome wedding photographer friends who i am sure would capture the day in the most amazing way.
syncwithsky: I like your eyes and your photos.
thank you i like your eyes too :)
atidae: are there any blogs you follow on here that are your greatest source of inspiration? Or any fellow photographers/models? I would absolutely love to check out a few :) xo
a few of my models have tumblr:
more fashion-based inspiration:
but mostly i randomly stumble across amazing blogs and fall in love with them for that night hehe. as for the ones i’ve linked, there are more that i regularly check but i am sleepy and can’t remember them right now x
Anonymous: How many followers do you have, and how many people are you following?
i have a bajillion followers.
Anonymous: when will you take picture overseas? in Bali for instance
when the opportunity arises! i would like to one day host photography workshops around the world actually. i don’t really know anyone in bali though, but if you wanted to put a group of people who wanted to learn maybe i can head over there…. :)
Anonymous: How long does it take you to retouch 20 pictures roughly and do you edit them in batch in regards to colour or just one by one?
i’ve got colour presets for my photos, so i edit them one by one, but it’s fairly quick. i add a preset, then tweak it slightly, then retouch it. retouching 20 photos might take me the half the day? it’s always different depending how much work needs to be done to them, but maybe about 4 - 6 hours.
